Hall’s 80th Anniversary Celebrations 2018

The Hall enters its 80th year in 2018 and the Hall Committee would like to bring the whole community together for some celebrations.  We are making plans for several events throughout the year and would welcome anyone who would like to be involved or has any suggestions.  Please send a message via our contact tab.

Celebrations to include – Visit by evacuees Monday 9 June;  Choir Concert Saturday 30 June;  Walking Treasure Hunt and Twmpath Saturday 14 July; Children’s Competitions over the Summer holiday – Poetry, Story, Painting, Drawing, Quiz Evening 26 September, ‘Pontyates’ Got Talent’ Sat 27 October, Carol Service Saturday 8th December with Crwbin Silver Band.

Pontyates’ Got Talent

Please join us for an evening of enjoyment.  We invite you to come along at 5.30pm to watch our local talent.  If you would like to enter for the competition (£2 Adults, children free) please register by Friday 19 October. Age categories – Under 11, 11-18, 18-25, 25 and over.  We will also be announcing the winners of our Poem, Story, Drawing competition for children held over the Summer.

 

Children’s Competitions over the Summer – Poem, Story, Drawing or Painting under the subject – Coal Mining

Closing date is 30 September, 2018.  Result and prizes will be announced at our ‘Pontyates Got Talent’ evening on Saturday 27 October 2018.
Categories –
1. Drawing/Painting
  • must be on A4 sheet of paper.   Anything larger or smaller will be disqualified
  • must be original – no pre-printed work that has been coloured in
2. Poem
  • no more than 500 words
3. Story
  • no more than 500 words

Local Produce Market -  Saturday 20 October 2018  from 9.30 to 12.00 (and every third Saturday in the month).

Local meats, vegetables and fruit, plants, flowers, bread, eggs, cakes, pastries, jams and chutneys, cheesecakes, honey, and cheese.  Craft stalls also in attendance – home made cards, needlework, knitted garments and toys, jewellery. Over 20 stalls in attendance usually.

Help sustainability and support your local producer.

In conjunction with the market, refreshments will be available raising funds for individual charities.

Lovely chance to come down and meet up with all your village friends.  The Library is also open at this time – please call in to see our volunteers and support this valuable service.

Did you know you can collect Blue Recycling Bags from the Library during its opening times.

Beginners’ Pilates Classes every Monday 6.30-7.30pm

Pilates classes for anyone over 16 years old every Monday 6.30-7.30pm.  Special introductory rate of £4.  Suitable for all ages and abilities.  Tone up and strengthen your body.  Please bring a mat if you have one…. if not they are provided.  Wear suitable comfortable clothing. It is superb for not just toning the body but strengthening the muscles around joints, providing more support, easing aches and pains and preventing future injury.
